Thierry Wase-Bailey

TWB Cannes 08

Thierry Wase-Bailey has 20 years experience in the international film sales and licensing business. An Anglo-French citizen, Thierry was educated at the Lycee Francais Charles de Gaulle in London and the University of London where he obtained his Degree (with honours) in Chemistry with Management.

Thierry owns and runs sales company Celsius Entertainment, based in Central London.

Thierry’s previous film business venture HanWay has been a great success. Thierry co-founded the company in 1999 with producer Jeremy Thomas and as the company’s Managing Director and Head of Sales, built it up into one of the most successful film sales companies in the independent distribution business, selling such films as THE CUP, BESIEGED [both Fine Line in North America], BROTHER [Sony Pictures Classics], RABBIT-PROOF FENCE [Miramax], THE TRIUMPH OF LOVE [Paramount Classics], THE DREAMERS [Fox Searchlight], etc… The company posted net profits every year except for a small loss in the first year due to start up costs, and had no external debt.

His years prior to HanWay included running his own sales and consultancy business Entco [now re-named Celsius Entertainment], during which he set up through pre-sales THE INTRUDER starring John Hannah and Nastassja Kinski, and was Senior Vice President Sales, Marketing and Acquisitions at Majestic Films International, responsible for day to day management including sales of all the company’s recent product, such as THE BRAVE starring Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando, LARGER THAN LIFE starring Bill Murray and Linda Fiorentino, BLOOD & WINE starring Jack Nicholson and Michael Caine, JANE EYRE starring William Hurt, etc… Thierry also oversaw library sales on such films as DANCES WITH WOLVES, DRIVING MISS DAISY, DAMAGE, MAN WITHOUT A FACE, CITY OF JOY, etc…

Prior to Majestic Thierry was Vice President International Sales at Goldcrest Films & Television, responsible for all foreign sales of the company’s films, including Don Bluth’s animated features ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN and ROCK-A-DOODLE, DRIFTWOOD starring James Spader, NO WAY HOME starring Tim Roth, BLACK RAINBOW starring Tom Hulce, and library titles such as HOPE & GLORY, THE MISSION, THE KILLING FIELDS, A ROOM WITH A VIEW, THE NAME OF THE ROSE, LOCAL HERO, etc…
